UX Sound Design
ROLE
Loom
Loom empowers millions of users across 400,000 companies to communicate more effectively with their screen recording product.
Together we created a sequence of sounds that flows through the recording experience to help users to feel more at ease when recording themselves for their colleagues.
The Sounds
UX Sound Design clarifies moments of the screen recording process.
Countdown and Record
The countdown leads to the recording start.
Loom identified a problem that often users feel nervous when recording themselves, so we used sound to bring a sense of calm optimism to the experience.
Pause
The pause sound confirms to the user that they have paused the recording.
Recording Complete
This sound lets the user know their Loom has been successfully processed and is ready to share. We found it would be useful to create a small feeling of celebration and reassurance.
"It was a pleasure working with Sanctus and hearing these sounds evolve through the process. We came to them with words and a big idea and they turned it into something we think our creators will love."
-Rajiv Sancheti, Sr. Product Designer at Loom
"When we wanted to establish a sound design language for Loom that would make the product more reassuring and improve user confidence, they took our brief and turned the process into a highly approachable one. This left us feeling both capable of participating in the iteration process and extremely satisfied with the results."
-Sean Thompson, Principle Designer at Loom
