ROLE

Mythic Mischief

Mythic Mischief is a 1v1 digital strategy game adapted from the acclaimed board game series by the creators of Veiled Fate, Fractured Sky, and Moonrakers. Players choose from eleven factions of mythic students, wielding unique abilities in chess-like tactical play set inside the halls of a mythic university library.

When crafting sound and music for a game,
we ask three main questions:

1. Does it build the world?

The library setting gave us a clear creative anchor: a place of arcane knowledge, hidden danger, and mischief. We aimed for playful horror-fantasy: a sense of curiosity and wonder with a mischievous edge underneath.

2. Does it communicate to the player?

Each phase of a turn in Mythic Mischief asks the player to do something meaningfully different. We scored each phase with a distinct musical section; a subtle reinforcment that helps the player understand where they are in the game loop.

3. Does it influence player behavior?

Mythic Mischief is primarily played async. There's essentially no timer. No pressure. The music needed to honor that pace: comfortable, unhurried, never pushing. At the same time, we didn't want the score to feel cerebral or heavy. The game is playful at its core, and the music stays there with it.
